Martyn was born in 1955 in rural Lancashire where he grew up-always inderested in Wildlife and a very keen artist. He went to work alongside his father, an extraordinarilly talented carver, making beautiful pieces of bespoke furniture. Their client list included Harrods and the Royal Family.
Martyn himself is a member of the Master Carvers Association and whilst he has obviously inherited his father's gift of creativity, his great love lies with the fine arts. Consequently, upon his father's retirement, he fulfilled his ambition to become a full time sculptor and now works in the beautiful Ribble Valley within the grounds of the well known Stonyhurst College.
"As you will see from my photo gallery, I have worked in stone, marble and wood and each individual piece, whether large or small,is still an exciting challenge for me as I see the sculpture come to life. The important thing to me is to work closely with my clients in order to create something which is truly unique and which will be enjoyed by future generations."
Martyn's sculptures can be seen in many public places. Recent commissions include a life size soldier carved in wood for the Royal Engineers Regiment. This was featured on the BBC.
