Taking place from Huntleys, near Samlesbury, this half hour flight takes in some of Lancashire’s most scenic and historical places of interest. Huntley’s itself provides the perfect setting for relaxed day out where you can shop for and eat some of the finest locally produced food in Lancashire much produced on their own farm.

From Huntleys you will depart North East flying over Stonyhurst College, founded in 1593 at St Omer in what is now Northern France. 1794 saw the college settle in the present estate of Stonyhurst, donated by Thomas Weld, a former pupil.

The Norman Castle keep of Clitheroe has dominated the skyline for more than 800 years after being built around 1186 by Robert De Lacy to protect the administrative centre of his vast estates.

Situated on the banks of the River Ribble, Sawley Abbey, a ruinous Cistercian Abbey founded in 1147 by the Abbot Benedict and completed in the 14th century stands with a backdrop of the dramatic hills and Lancashire’s industrial buildings.

Pendle Hill is the remains of a vast plateau. It is the feature of the landscape around Pendle and where the area gets its name. Pendle Hill is the best known example of alleged witchcraft in English history and continues to be associated with witchcraft to this day.

Whalley Abbey, another example of a Cistercian Abbey, was built between 1330 and 1380 and completed in 1440.

Darwen Tower has stood sentinel over the “happy valley” for well over a hundred years. Completed in 1898 the octagonal tower was built to commemorate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee.

Winter Hill, home to Lever Park built by Bolton philanthropist Lord Leverhulme these stunning gardens were built at the start of the 20th Century. More associated with its television mast supplying signals for a large part of the region it is also home to Rivington Pike and Pigeon Tower.

Hoghton Tower is a Grade I listed building is the ancestral home of the de Hoghton family. Built in 1565 this ancient, fortified, hill top manor house has retained its Tudor-Elizabethan character.
