LANCASHIRE DAY

Saturday 3rd October 2009

Now then I hear you say ‘How was Lancashire Day at Huntley’s’.

Well, it was very wet, cold and windy for us on Lancashire Day, you could say that it was just typical weather for Lancashire in October!!

The show cooking was limited to one demonstration as it was too cold for us to stand and do any demonstrations so we took one opportunity when we saw it – see the photos of Gareth Pearson from Pureety, cooking locally sourced pork marinated with his soy, ginger and garlic sauce, freshly prepared (again locally sourced veg from the Food Hall) and lightly blanched noodles (also available for purchase in our Food Hall), Gareth is pictured talking to the spectators!

Now, we most certainly cannot let you get away without knowing how Gareths, smoked red chilli and blossom honey marinated sausages went down with our customers who were lucky enough to be able to try them on the day! Wow a mix between a cracking butcher and a clever chap we came up with the best concoction this side of Christmas –if you haven’t tried them then you need to come down to purchase some of our own Huntley’s homemade smoked red chilli and blossom honey pork sausages they are most certainly a sizzling delight!

We had lots of interest in Mrs Kirkhams cheese and you can see Graham in the photos alongside some scrummy pictures of his families produce!

We also have Tim Proctor pictured who helps to source locally prepared cheeses and helps to distribute them to local suppliers!

Reedy’s Naturally came down John Kirby is pictured here with his products, unfortunately Lisa Reedy could not be with us as she was promoting Reedy’s Naturally at a farmers market elsewhere – we missed you Lisa!

Fogeys came down giving out samples of their pies and pasties!

We cannot forget Thwaites Shires Horses Bomber and Daniel that came to visit us on the day! Did you know that they are quite partial to a bitter or two, no, well neither did I, but here in the photos shows living proof that they do!! Now I wonder how the police horses feel about that, ‘one rule for one and one rule for another’ I bet they neigh to each other, they get away with drink horsing around and we don’t!! (sorry couldn’t resist!)

The restaurant got into the spirit of things with their specials on the menu and the fab flat caps worn by some of the staff you can see pictured here in the restaurant!

We would like to say a huge thanks to all of the suppliers and customers that came down especially on the day it was great to see you all and we hope to see you all again soon!

All in all what a great day with Lancashire specials on the menu everyone got something Lancashire from the day – great day all – we hope you enjoyed it!!

Don ‘t forget to check out what else we have going on next, Halloween, Bonfire night, Christmas party nights – it’s all happening at Huntley’s!
