Dear All,
You all know that we were really lucky (read that as hard working!) enough to be awarded UK Independent Wine Retailer of the Year by the Drinks Retailing Awards earlier this year. (I know this is now old news to many f you, but stay with me).
It has been an amazing year for me – and everyone else at Barrica and this was a great accolade to have achieved, for which we are very grateful.
I have been notified this afternoon that we have been shortlisted as Regional Merchant of the Year for Northern England in the INTERNATIONAL WINE CHALLENGE!!!!!
This is a competition which has fantastic kudos and to be shortlisted after less than two and a half years trading is beyond anything I could have wished for.
You may have gathered that I’m really excited about this and wanted to share it with someone …. So I chose all of you!
The final decision is announced at a grand awards ceremony at the Hilton in Park Lane on 7th September – keep your fingers crossed!
Going to open a bottle of wine now!!!

Specialist One Day Course – New Zealand and Australia
24th July
Following the fabulous success of our first one day ‘Specialist Course’ which covered wines from Italy, come and join us on this informal one day course. Explore the wine growing regions of Australia and New Zealand and taste a selection of their wines. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be an expert to come along, just enjoy wines and want to know a little more.
10am - 4pm Millstone @ Mellor
£65.00 per head including all lectures, wines and a two course lunch with wine.

Alternative Vodkas - Summer Tasting
31st July
Neil Monyard is a great friend and a larger than life character, so this will be a very entertaining day! Drop into the shop any time between 11am and 4pm to taste some of the Vodkas that we will have available.
Something Very Special! – Rosemary George MW
19th August
Rosemary George MW is the UK’s first Master of Wine and she is coming to Barrica Wines to provide an exclusive wine tasting for our very lucky customers.
There are only xxx Master’s of Wine in the World and to have one of them come to the North of England is extremely unusual – but after Jane and Rosemary met in Argentina, Rosemary has offered to honour Barrica Wines with this very special visit!
This wine tasting will be ticket only, numbers will be very limited and the tickets will go very fast, so if you are interested in this event – contact Barrica Wines soon.
Italian Dinner Tasting
10th September
This is a ticket only event in Huntleys Restaurant.
Wine on arrival, followed by an authentic Italian menu with Jane’s special choice of wines to complement the food. The evening will be presented by Philip Harris, expert on Italian food and wine.
£40 per person inclusive of dinner and wines.
