Huntley’s History

After the 2001 foot-and-mouth crisis, with the farming industry at its knees, Eddie Cowpe, the previous owner of Huntley’s, knew that something had to be done. Eddie built a 750 square foot farm shop and started selling milk, home made ice cream, meat and other produce to the general public. From there Eddie built Huntley’s into a thriving outlet village boasting a restaurant, farm shop, florist, ice cream parlor, furniture and antique shop.

In 2005 Huntley’s was awarded the East Lancashire Retailer of the Year. An achievement we are all very proud of. The judges were especially impressed with the high quality of the locally sourced food found in the farm shop.

In 2012 Eddie handed over the reins of Huntley’s to local Lancashire farmers Harry & Lynn Wilson. With a view to build on Huntley’s previous success Harry & Lynn rebranded Huntley’s as Huntley’s Country Stores and have got the ball rolling on their big plans for Huntley’s future.
